After Apple dropped Touch ID to iPhone X and replaced it with Face ID, it seems that it will not change this approach with its future phones. According to the Ming-Chi Kuo analyst at 9to5Mac, Apple will not add Touch ID with the fingerprint sensor on the screen with this year's iPhone or next year's phones.
According to Kuo, the factors limiting Apple's decision relate to the fact that current transformers from sensors have limited support for OLED monitors (used by Apple with iPhone X models), as well as sensors that work only in a specific location rather than the entire screen. Recent rumors indicate that Samsung is looking to use fingerprint sensor technology under the screen with the next Galaxy S10 phone
Apple is expected to announce its new phone for the iPhone XS Plus Plus and another low-cost version next week on September 12th. All three devices are expected to have Face ID instead of Touch ID.
