Apple is repairing its own privacy pages and allowing US customers to download their own data

Apple has updated and expanded its privacy page a month after launching the latest iPhone and Mac devices.

Nothing has changed much about the privacy page. It still points to Apple's long-standing obligations, such as "privacy is a basic user right" and that your information is largely on iPhones, iPads and Macs.

But now with the new security and privacy features in iOS 12 and MacOS Mojave, the page has been updated to include new rules for FaceTime groups such as end-to-end video encoders, and enhancements to security tracking measures.

Apple has expanded its data gateway to allow US customers to get a copy of the company's data, which is the main addition Apple added this time. Apple brought this feature to EU customers in May, when the European Union's general data protection regulations came into force.

Apple earlier this year said it would expand this feature to US customers, and customers in Canada, Australia and New Zealand could also request their data.
